I am a regular online shopper and when a recently engaged friend recommended
Gem Nation, I paid them a visit. I was ready to propose to my girlfriend of five years,
but when it came to diamonds, Iwas a relative neophyte.
Gem Nation's education section was my first port of call. Their coverage of the 4 Cs
is excellent and provided me with a thorough grounding in
diamond fundamentals.
Then I called one of their gem and diamond experts to discuss what I was looking for.
The friendly and helpful service enlightened me further about the
diamond's
girdle, depth, table, culet, and fluorescence.
I found a lot of diamonds that fit my criteria, but I wasn't yet ready to make
the commitment as it was such a huge investment. I still felt I needed to do some
comparison shopping.
Tiffany was first. I wanted to see what a 2 carat round
solitaire diamond
would look like in a very simple elegant setting. Tiffany has beautiful
jewelry, but their price premium was a little more than my wallet could handle, and I
couldn't justify it just for the little blue box. Gem Nation's prices, on the other

I went to Blue Nile, Ashford, and Mondera. They all had a great selection of diamonds,

I finally decided upon a diamond and then selected a beautiful

platinum setting. When it came to paying for the ring, after a short discussion with
the helpful people at Gem Nation, I opted to wire transfer the money. I did that all
online with my brokerage account from Charles Schwab. Gem Nation gives a 2% discount
on such transactions, which doesn't sound like much, but in my situation it almost
covered the cost of the band. Another money-saver was not having to pay sales tax
because I was out of state.
Gem Nation shipped the product for free. It arrived right on time before 10:30 a.m.
via UPS Priority Insured Overnight. Included was a beautiful wooden box,
a GIA certificate and the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen.
All Gem Nation diamonds and jewelry (other than custom pieces) come with a
30-day money back guarantee, but I won't be needing it.
By the way, my girlfriend (now fiance) loves the ring!
