More about F.P. Journe Watches
Francois-Paul Journe was born in 1959. He is a Marseille-born French watchmaker, from the Provencal countryside who, despite an unruly childhood, graduated at age 17 from the Paris watchmaking school. His first job was with his uncle, restoring rare private horological collections. Journe's first watch was completed in 1978. No less than a sprung-detent tourbillon pocket-watch, in the manner of Abraham-Louis Breguet. He went on the demonstrate constant-force tourbillons, an astronomical (planetary) watch, a sympathique clock-watch combination, and a self-winding perpetual-calendar pocket-watch, with fusee-detent escapement and constant-force remontoir, showing retrograde date, moon-phase and equation of time. Consequently, F.P. Journe is one of the rare few at the highest levels of the watchmaking art. Only a select few connoisseurs have the privilege to own an F.P. Journe masterpiece and marvel at its exceptional craftmanship.
