Founded in 1860 in Florence, Italy, Panerai became the official supplier to the Italian navy. The instantly recognizable oversized case design is a hallmark of this cult brand. Movement decorated with Côtes de Genève. Blued screws. Glucydur balance wheel, Incabloc anti-shock device, 'swan neck' index with micrometer screw adjustment.
Baton hour and minute hands. Large arabic numerals at 3,6,9,12. Sandwich dial is composed of two juxtaposed plates. The top plate is perforated allowing the lower plate's Superluminova coating to show through, providing maximum legibility. This coating was formerly Radiomir - a zinc sulphide, radium bromide and mesothorium composite - from which the watch derives part of its name.
