Boasting unmistakably one of the most fashionable looks in the entire watch industry, the hottest selling model for Stührling Original over the last eighteen months has been the Apocalypse Chronograph. And now, following up on this monster hit and continuing to define the cutting edge, Stührling Original offers its newest interpretation from the Apocalyptic Series…the Apocalypse Skeleton!
Providing a stunning combination of the most current trend in the watch industry with its magnificent case and old-school watchmaking with a skeletonized self-winding mechanical movement, the Apocalypse Skeleton is a sure conversation starter in any environment. Unlike its predecessor, the 316L surgical-grade stainless steel case is mostly treated with a high polish finish with only the top and bottom centers being treated with a contrasting brushed effect. The mirror finish on the case makes this version of the Apocalypse look like a million dollars and attracts attention like never before!
However, the polished case is only the beginning as no details were spared on the Apocalypse Skeleton. On closer examination, you will see that what remains of the skeletonized dial has been blanketed with carbon fiber; all the steel indices have been individually applied to the dial and have been treated with Super Luminova™ for ease of reading in the dark; the hour and minute hands have been skeletonized as well and the tips have been filled with the same Luminova™; and the red center-sweep second-hand features the Stührling 'S' on its tail; but the primary attraction on the face has to be the 'propeller-style' ring-plate covering the exposed mainspring.
Delivering a stylized and perfect embellishment, the open-spring ring-plate provides for functionality as well by allowing easy viewing of the mainspring so that you will always know at a glance that you have power reserve on the movement. The face of the Apocalypse Skeleton is completed with its angled flange around the outer ring of the dial and is printed with minute and second markers for even more detail. The unique decagonal-shaped bezel has been layered with black PVD and features custom applied decorative Stührling screw-heads in the form of an 'S.'
As much as keeping time, the self-winding mechanical movement (Cal. ST-90089) adds to the dazzling look of this Apocalypse. The top-plates on the movement have been skeletonized and hand-engraved for extra flair; and on the flip-side blued steel screws and a skeletonized, hand-engraved rotor contribute even more allure. The Apocalypse Skeleton features an exhibition screw-down case-back and is black PVD coated as is the knurled edge pull-out crown.
This noble timepiece is water resistant to 100 meters and sports a tapered 22-millimeter wide silicon rubber strap. The strap affixes to the case with covered lugs and is finished off perfectly with a stainless steel deployant clasp with a black PVD coated safety clasp.
