Since the 1860s, Edouard Heuer and the company that he founded have been responsible for some remarkable watch making achievements. Heuer introduced the 1/10th second time measurement and the flyback mechanism. In 1985, the TAG group acquired the company and subsequently renamed it TAG-Heuer. The firm has had strong affiliations with the Olympic Games, Formula 1 racing, and numerous sporting personalities. Following on the heels of the hugely successful SLR Chronograph by TAG Heuer Calibre 36-R at Baselworld 2004, TAG Heuer presents a limited series of 3500 pieces of the newly designed SLR for Mercedes Benz Limited Edition. The words 'Mercedes-Benz' appear on the dial below the 12 o'clock position, just above the TAG Heuer symbol. (Mercedes-Benz and TAG Heuer are trademarks of their respective brands). A special feature of the TAG Heuer Mercedes Benz SLR chronograph is the internal bezel with 60-minute scale. It can be rotated using the secondary crown positioned at 9 o'clock, enabling rapid countdown using the minutes hand. The fashionable and sporty dial features ten hand-finished applique double-index diamond markers. Rhodium plated rings encircle the two counters at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
