In 1964, the visionary young Swiss watchmaker, Jack Heuer, great-grandson of founder Edouard Heuer, launched the first Heuer Carrera in tribute to the Carrera Panamericana Mexico Road Race, thereby setting the seal on the TAG Heuer brand’s legendary association with the world of racing circuits. The CARRERA Panamericana was an epic race that was started in the 1950s and attracted many of the leading drivers of the time. Juan Manuel Fangio, the famous Argentinian driver who was FORMULA 1 World Champion five times, won the race in 1953. To pay tribute to this unique adventure, TAG Heuer launched the CARRERA that combined refinement with the spirit of sporting achievement. It was an immediate success. The Carrera range of TAG Heuers has been subsequently modernised but still retains its sober elegance. The TAG Heuer CARRERA family of chronographs perfectly embodies the vibrant memory of the era of Gentleman drivers. The Carrera range of chronographs is typified by the TAG Heuer Calibre 16 - a dependable movement with 3-counter vertical chronograph design. Cases are made from stainless steel and occasionally precious metals like gold. Bezels are traditionally aluminum with PVD-coatings in a range of colors. Commonly associated with sporting and screen legends like Tiger Woods, Jeff Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya, Fernando Alonso and Brad Pitt, these watches epitomize the sporting elegance that is embodied in every TAG Heuer wristwatch.
