Warranty Information
FINE JEWELRY
Limited 90-Day Warranty
All fine jewelry purchased from Gemnation.com is warranted for ninety (90) days from date of purchase. All fine jewelry is genuine, authentic and of consistent high quality and value. All gold jewelry is either 14K or 18K gold and all platinum jewelry is 95% pure.
Our warranty covers each item of fine jewelry for defects in manufacturing only and expressly excludes coverage for excessive wear and tear, physical or accidental abuse, loss and theft. Our warranty is valid only at Gemnation.com. Improper repair or warranty service performed by someone other than Gemnation.com will void this warranty. GEMNATION.COM DISCLAIMS ANY LIABILITY FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES FOR BREACH OF WRITTEN OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF THIS ITEM, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS, WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you. WATCHES
Limited Two Year Warranty, extendable up to 5 years for 5 percent of the purchase price per year.
WRISTWATCH WARRANTY TERMS
Gemnation.com provides warranty coverage of two years from the date of purchase on all of its brand name watches. Our warranty covers the watch movement and battery replacement for the time period stated and excludes:
Any defect to the watch case, crystal, strap, bracelet, box, manual or other part or accessory - arising from accident, mishandling, incorrect or abusive use including, but not limited to:
knocks;
crushing;
scratching;
moisture in the case of non water-resistant watches;
crown damage resulting from excessive force applied to the crown;
crystal damage resulting from dropping or knocking;
water resistant watches damaged from wear under conditions exceeding the manufacturer's or Gemnation's stated water resistance limitations,
the use of, or the consequence of using non-authorized batteries,
any alteration or intervention performed other than by an authorized Gemnation service technician. Any intervention performed by a non-authorised agent renders the Gemnation.com warranty void;
leather straps;
the results of normal or excessive wear and aging of the watch and metal bracelet;
theft or loss;
any watch that has had the serial number or other features deliberately removed or altered
Please also refer to the section "Caring for your watch" for recommendations on protecting your watch.
Please expect a 30-day turnaround for warranty repair. Keep in mind that warranty service includes testing and identification of problems both before AND after warranty service which may include, but is not necessarily limited to: Demagnetization, electronic timing accuracy, water-resistance integrity and bracelet/strap integrity. These procedures take time especially insofar as timing accuracy is concerned. Please be patient with warranty returns. We want the watch to go back to you in good working order. If warranty repair will exceed 30-days we will endeavor to inform you of this as soon as we are aware of extenuating circumstances causing the delay.
All shipping and handling costs in connection with warranty service are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise noted and incur a $25 fee per return shipment on all domestic orders.. Gemnation.com offers GENUINE BRAND NAME watches at significant discounts to the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Because of our discounted pricing, the manufacturer does not consider us to be "Authorized Dealers". However, all of our watches are genuine, authentic and new. We only purchase our watches through authorized dealers and distributors and other established lines of distribution within the watch industry. This method of purchasing is commonly known as parallel importing.
What Is Parallel Importing?
"Parallel importing" allows retailers, wholesalers and other parties to obtain goods subject to intellectual property rights directly from licensed or authorized overseas sources, rather than dealing with local suppliers, licensees or agents. The intent of parallel importing is to allow for the highly competitive discounting of the goods in question.
Are Parallel Imported Goods "Real" or "Fake"?
Parallel-imported goods are sometimes confused with pirated and counterfeit goods. THIS ASSOCIATION IS INCORRECT. Parallel imports are goods that are manufactured and put into circulation in another country either by, or with the consent of, the owner of the applicable intellectual property rights. In contrast, pirated and counterfeit goods are goods produced without the consent of the owner of the intellectual property right. Therefore, parallel imported goods are GENUINE.
The ethics of parallel importing
When a company imports goods that the original overseas manufacturer has already authorized another domestic agent to import, the authorized importer may have already invested heavily in marketing to make the goods well known to consumers. In such cases, if the unauthorized importing company takes actions, such as by making representations with respect to the product contents, source, importer name and address, and so forth, in order to mislead consumers into believing the goods are those imported by the authorized importer or domestic manufacturer, such actions amount to "free-riding" and are considered deceptive or unfair.
Gemnation makes every effort to inform consumers about the fact that its watches are not provided by United States authorized distributors, but, despite this fact, are GENUINE and were MANUFACTURED BY THE SPECIFIC WATCH MANUFACTURER under consideration. By providing full disclosure to its customers, Gemnation is able to pass on significant discounts to which we believe our customers are entitled in accordance with free-trade principles. Furthermore, parallel importing is legal, but may in certain circumstances render the manufacturer’s warranty void. Thus, Gemnation offers its customers the abovementioned warranty.

CARING FOR YOUR WATCH
To ensure that your watch continues to provide excellent service for many years, follow these guidelines.
Do not place your watch on speakers or refrigerators, since these have strong magnetic fields
After bathing in the sea, always rinse your watch with warm water
Avoid shocks
Always screw in the watch crown carefully to ensure that no water enters the mechanism.
If the watch crown is not a screw-in crown and/or the manufacturer indicates a water resistance of less than or equal to 100M (meters), DO NOT USE THE WATCH FOR ANY TYPE OF BATHING ACTIVITY INCLUDING SWIMMING. Your swim strokes, through the natural motion of your body, may cause a pressure equivalent of 150M (meters), thus rendering the water resistance of the watch unsuitable. Watch manufacturers’ claims for water resistance are seldom accurate and WE DO NOT RECOMMEND using a watch for diving unless the watch is rated at or over 200M water resistance. If the watch suffers from water damage, and the aforementioned recommendation was not observed, the warranty may be void.
When cleaning metal bracelets and water resistant cases, use a toothbrush with soapy water and a soft cloth for drying
Avoid direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetic products and similar abrasives, since they may damage the bracelet, the case or the gaskets
Avoid extreme hot and cold temperatures and rapid temperature changes
Like any high-precision instrument, a watch needs to be serviced regularly in order to work perfectly. The regularity of watch servicing depends on the model, climate and the care taken by the watch's owner. As a general rule, service intervals are between 4 and 5 years, depending on the use of the watch.
LEATHER STRAPS
To preserve the condition of your leather strap as long as possible
avoid contact with water and dampness to prevent discoloration and deformation
avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight to prevent color fading
avoid contact with greasy substances and cosmetic products
The life expectancy of leather is limited due to sweat, wear and tear and the abovementioned exposures. For the abovementioned reasons, please be aware that leather straps are not covered under warranty, either through the manufacturer or Gemnation.
If the warranty is voided as a result of misuse or failure to follow the abovementioned guidelines, we nevertheless are happy to assist you in returning your watch to usability. We bill non-warranty repair charges at cost.
