Since the 16th Century the famous Baume name has been associated with prestigious watchmaking. In 1918, William Baume and Paul Mercier consolidated their businesses and the Baume & Mercier name was born. In 1964 they introduced the greek Phi symbol as their corporate emblem. It represents the brand's high standards of workmanship, attention to detail and commitment to quality. The Baume & Mercier brand has received almost every major international watchmaking award.

William Baume Limited Edition of 1830 Pieces. Retro round-shaped case. The Limited Series number of 1830 corresponds to the founding of Baume-et-Mercier in 1830.
Four limited edition pieces — 177 (the age of the company) for the timepieces in gold and 1830 for the steel versions — have been crafted with traditional know-how and modern styling.
Baume, a watchmaker of outstanding talent, was heir to a family saga that began in 1830. Gaining worldwide recognition thanks to the excellence and innovation of its timepieces, it gave convincing proof of its dedication to mechanical elegance and precision when one of its timepieces won the 1893 timing competition at the Kew-Teddington Observatory — the most prestigious competition of the time — with a score of 91.9 out of a possible 100.
In 1910, aged just 25, Baume took over the family enterprise from his father. He left the Les Bois village in 1918 to settle in Geneva, where he formed a partnership with Paul Mercier and the brand Baume et Mercier, Genève saw the light of day in 1920.
Strongly committed to the reputation built by his ancestors, Baume was responsible for obtaining for his company the prestigious Geneva hallmark, the Poincon de Geneve, the highest distinction in the Swiss watchmaking industry in 1921. This collection is a celebration of his contributions and his excellence. |
